Overview

Hill-Rom Company, a subsidiary of Hillenbrand Industries, is the leading manufacturer of patient care products, and a leading provider of specialized therapy rental products and related services. Hill-Rom products are designed to improve patient outcomes and reduce total delivery costs. Hill-Rom serves acute, ambulatory and long-term healthcare facilities and homecare patients worldwide.

Hill-Rom along with Batesville Casket Company and Forethought Financial Services comprise the three subsidiaries of Hillenbrand Industries, a 2+ billion dollar industry leader.

The Challenge

Hill-Rom and Hillenbrand corporate have massive IT projects currently in progress that encompass PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, and a number of other large and small software solution packages along with over a terabyte of database usage supported with Oracle and SQL Server. They determined that a proactive approach to data management and database project work was needed due to the substantial amount of projects, production support, and technical expertise required to meet corporate goals.

The Solution

Hill-Rom called upon Ross Group Inc to provide sole consulting and staffing support for both Oracle and SQL Server environments. Ross Group has provided premium services to Hill-Rom for over seven years and has developed model processes for ongoing database project and production support, working in tandem with key personnel and core teams.

Ross Group provides several DBAs on location at Hill-Rom full-time (DBAOnSite®) to work with core teams, along with monitoring databases remotely (DBARemote™) - ensuring that they are always running with optimal performance and minimal downtime, and additionally for on-call (DBAOnCall®) questions and response to problems on a 24x7 basis.
